Wow! How do I begin this article? Folks are "ranting and raving" over whether Ms. Knight got a facelift! Why are they doing that? Because the woman looks good! We all try to look as good as we can! So... why the noise?
Facelift or No Facelift
This writer is not here to argue whether she did get lifted or didn't, but to say, does it matter? Some people look great at 78 and some don't. I have a sister in her eighties, and when people look at the driver's license she hands them, they cannot believe the birthdate on the license matches the person standing in front of them! The key thing about the skin is, if you take care of it from youth, it looks younger than if you don't. I'm into the "creams" myself! No cuts!
How's the Voice?
Gladys Knight has spent most of her life singing--using her voice to bring joy and contentment to the world. That's what we want to talk about. What is she doing now? Answer: Dazzling crowds of fans from one side of America to the next: Florida to Mexico . . . that is Gladys.
She will tour two (2) countries with 26 upcoming events this year, including the Fox Theatre in Detroit. Her voice has the power, her mind the words, and a heart that delivers the message that continues to help all of us . . . "Make It Through the Night.".
A Smidgen of What Ms. Knight Has Done
Where do we start? She began singing in church at age four, her first album debuted with "Gladys Knight & The Pips" at age 16 and her career followed with a string of hits. Among them: Every Beat of My Heart, If I Were Your Woman and Midnight Train to Georgia.
She is a 7-time Grammy Award Winner. Born on May 28, 1944, Ms. Knight is a long way away from that little southern gal in the heartlands. Her net worth is estimated to be $30 million. But if you ask her, I believe she would say her greatest wealth is bringing peace, contentment and determination to her listeners, always urging them get on that "Midnight Train to Georgia" and keep "forging ahead" in life.
