GETTING A "JUMP" ON INFLATION
Getting a jump on inflation has many people puzzled. Who do you do? Answer: Earn more money. For some, that means getting a second job. With all of the "Help Wanted" signs hanging around, that is not difficult to do. However, before leaping into that new job, consider these things:
Number of Hours for Sleeping
Child Care
Gas Prices
Mental Endurance
NUMBER OF HOURS FOR SLEEPING
There are only twenty-four (24) hours in a day. If you get two 8-hour jobs, you have racked up sixteen (16) of those hours. The remaining eight (8) have to cover drive time, food-intake and sleep. A minimum of five (5) hours should be "sleep time." Is such a schedule sustainable?
CHILD CARE
Being a single parent, childcare adds to the dilemma. Unless you have a family member to take care of your little one(s), the money from the second job can easily be spent on childcare. Factor in finding a facility that meets your comfort level and determine if it is worth it. However, in a two-parent household, childcare can be the responsibility of the partner. But careful coordination must be worked out.
GAS PRICES
The price of crude oil soared to around one hundred dollars a barrel, kicking up gas prices to an average of $3.52 a gallon. Many forecasters say prices could rise to as much as $5.00 a gallon. SUVs and other similar vehicles hit the $72 mark for a fill-up. So, transportation between two jobs daily, place added stress on the average household budget. Working just to be working, is no fun.
MENTAL ENDURANCE
Stress is not something most of us deal with gracefully. It makes a negative impact on mental stability. Short temper, rash decisions and fatigue are symptoms which may also yield physical complications. So . . . what do you do?

products and give feedback. Most jobs can be done at home.
