Bakers Keyboard Lounge Jazz Club: One of the world's oldest jazz clubs joins one of the world's oldest genres in a July 11th-12th celebration! Be there when smooth jazz, featuring Duane Parham, connects with Bakers Keyboard Lounge, the oldest jazz club. The "sound of smooth jazz" will spread joy throughout the entire building!

Detroit's Bakers Keyboard Lounge opened in 1933 as a sandwich shoppe but by 1934, jazz pianists lit up the room with music!

Saxophonist Duane Parham

Smooth Jazz is one of the genres played by Duane Parham. Click on the video below and listen to a few bars of Standing in the Shadows of Love by him. You will also learn more about the July 11th, 2025, concert at Baker's Lounge.

Duane Parham is a national and international Smooth Jazz, Gospel and R&B saxophonist whose music spans several decades. He is a legend in the Detroit area, both due to his social connections as well as inspiring music.

Some of his works include Motor City Sax Appeal: My Tribute to the Motown

Legends, with guest appearances by The Four Tops, The Miracles, The Contours, The Original Vandellas, Pat Lewis, Carolyn Crawford and five-time Grammy award winner Michael J. Powell and Detroit City is Coming Back, a song that reaches across racial, ethnic and political lines, and promotes the Motor City nationally and internationally.

His latest contributions are a soulful, R&B rendition of “Your Precious Love” in 2021 and a sassy, energetic, Smooth Jazz CD Single entitled “My Turn” January, 2023.

Two (2) smooth jazz CDs entitled Duane Wants Some and Sugar Melts will be released by Duane Parham in 2025. Duane has been perfecting the songs for months and is ready to let the world hear them. A video is also "in the works."

"Duane Wants Some" expresses the artist's desire to climb to the heights several of his mentors have already achieved. He longs for some of that success. "Sugar Melts" says, "Be careful when you walk out in the rain . . . you know, sugar melts." Both songs highlight the soulfulness of Duane's sound on the sax. He pours his heart into it. Stay tuned for the releases.

America Celebrates Independence Day

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Duane Parham Society Concert has been moved to July 11-12, 2025.

July 4th celebrates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. That was a great day in America, because it represented the removal of any control Great Britian had over the States. Freedom from depressing rules and laws, is at the foundation of America's Constitution. Today, many Americans are fighting for that same independence.
