HOW TO MARKET YOURSELF AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST
Define Yourself: Make sure you understand who you are as an artist. How does your style of playing differ from a similar artist? For example: what makes your "saxophone sound" differ from another saxophonist?
Identify Your Audience: Determine what group of people like your music? Young or old? Middle income or lower income? Does the audience identify with your genre?
Develop an Artist Tagline: Example - "Duane Parham: The Man with the Horn."
Build a Professional Website: A website is your "musical home." It says who you are, what kind of music you play, where you have performed or where you are going to perform. It says, "This is me!"
Become a Social Media Communicator: Engage your fans! Keep them aware of what you are doing or what you expect to do soon. Let them know how much you appreciate them! Connect with your audience during "LIVE" performances.
Set Clear Goals: Set measurable and realistic goals for yourself and profession. Work to achieve them, do not allow them to become just words on a piece of paper.
