A Workable Definition of Comfort Beyond Physicality

Comfort means different things to different people, so, let's grab a meaning you and I can agree on. How about this meaning? "The easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress." Why such a meaning? Because it leaves open the many avenues a person grieves or feels distress. Distress could result from not being able to pay a bill or the loss of a loved one. Grief can result from the loss of a job, getting turned down for a loan or being told you need a physical operation. The definition does not box one in by saying the feeling is mental or physical. It can be one or the other, or both at the same time. Do we agree on the meaning? Great!

There are numerous ways to express comfort and raise the mentality of humanity. However, this article limits itself to two (2) ways: compassion and respect. This video generates compassion in several ways.

Compassion Has No Color

In watching the video, the viewer discovers that compassion has no color, gender or ethnicity. It's seeing a "soul" that needs understanding, love, and a big hug; it's saying, "You are not alone, I am standing with you. The world has made you feel different, under-rated, less than, or just plain ugly, but I say you are expressing the art and beauty of Soul." It's saying, "In the world of Spirit, there are no limitations." When we are able to feel this compassion at the core of our being and communicate it to others, that dear reader . . . is finding comfort beyond physicality.

Who benefits from compassion? The giver and the recipient, because when a person gives compassion to others, he has to feel it himself. That feeling is derived from his spiritual nature, which always supplies goodness--goodness not measured by materiality, but spirituality.

Respect Provides a Pathway to Comfort Beyond Physicality

Often, we hear an expression voiced tearfully or in anger, "You don't respect me!" Why is respect important to mankind? It is important because it denotes admiration--admiration for one's knowledge, talent or ideas. It means holding something or someone in high regard or esteem. Additionally, people respected are believed, followed, and are considered trustworthy. People enjoy being with or around that individual. Family members cheerfully say, "That's my brother or sister!" Another person may acknowledge he has known the respected person since elementary school, or lines may grow very long from people waiting to get an autograph. The list goes on. Yet, there is a deeper meaning: respect provides a pathway to comfort.

As a kid, I respected the words that flowed from the mouths of my parents; so, I was obedient to those words because I believed what they expressed was truth. Conversely, there was a man in the community most people had no respect for; he lied most of the time. I am sure there was a time when he spoke truth, but it was not accepted. His reputation always preceded everything he said. This leads to the spiritual meaning behind respect provides a pathway to comfort. Liars make most people uncomfortable. Spirituality demands respect, and respect generates comfort. I get warm, fuzzy feelings when I view this video.

Respect Brings Comfort Beyond Physicality

Did the video provide new thoughts or ideas for you? Did you learn something or find comfort beyond physicality? Creating it gave me deeper insights into man's true nature. I learned respect is not what is said, it's what is done! It causes us to evaluate an individual on the values he practices, not the values he talks about. Admiration and esteem are measured by feelings that dip beneath the surface of thought and cause a "tingle" that cannot be put into words. As Oprah says, "It's an aha moment!" I say it is comfort beyond physicality.

How can we implement what this article teaches? Look within "self" and determine what makes us feel good and discover if so, it probably makes someone else feel good. Do you know good is another name for God? It is, and . . . it is the opposite of evil. In conclusion, one thing is asked of you . . . each day, find one person your actions bring comfort. Do that for a week and I promise . . . you will feel better because you have would have found comfort beyond physicality!
